Christopher W. Sook

Christopher Sook joined Jeter Law Firm in January 2017 and is now the firm's managing partner.  Chris previously practiced with the Topeka-based Sloan Law Firm, spending the last five years of his stint there managing that firm's Hays office. 

 

Chris has a diverse civil practice, assisting clients with business matters; real estate transactions; land use, condemnation and partition matters; civil litigation including personal injury cases; estate planning and probate; oil and gas-related and corporate legal matters.

 

A life long Kansan, Chris was born in Wichita, grew up in Hays, and has also lived in Lawrence.  A graduate of Fort Hays State University, he spent several years in the broadcasting industry before earning his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

Licensed to practice in Kansas and Missouri, Chris has successfully argued before the Kansas Court of Appeals and litigated cases in Kansas' state and federal courts.  He has served as an adjunct instructor of legal studies at Washburn University and Fort Hays State University.  He is a past president of the Kansas Bar Association's Corporation, Banking & Business Law Section, past president of the Ellis County Bar Association, member of KIOGA, and has served on the boards of directors for the Heartland Community Foundation and Heart of America Development Corporation, where he has served as president of the board.  In 2018, Chris was appointed by the Kansas Supreme Court to serve on the Kansas Client Protection Fund Commission.  In 2023, the Kansas Supreme Court appointed him to serve on the Kansas Board for Discipline of Attorneys.

 

Chris, Wendy, and their son, Marshall, are home in Hays.
